Senior System Engineer (Internal IT, 80-100%, Remote-First)

As our company grows, we’re excited to welcome a Senior System Engineer to our Internal IT team of currently four people.

Our Internal IT team provides a range of services including web applications on Kubernetes, Linux desktops, centralized SSO authentication, monitoring, and backup solutions to an expanding, international user base of around 85 IT professionals and 15 non-technical staff. Our daily work evolves around the continuous modernization, automation, and maintenance of our technology stack, ensuring the delivery of high-quality IT support and solutions.

As a Senior System Engineer, you will lead internal IT projects, shape internal standards, and help to maintain high quality work.

Your tasks and duties will include:

• acting as a technical lead in internal projects, coordinating internal and external contributors, and third parties (i.e., service providers)
• engineering requirements, evaluate and optimize solutions
• maintaining, configuring, and upgrading our service landscape with various dependencies and interfaces
• designing, implementing, adapting, and expanding our service landscape
• writing documentation describing complex concepts in a systematic, well-structured, and reader-friendly way
• providing third-level support, solving high-priority and high-impact issues
• providing comprehensive technical guidance to all support workers

Must-Have Hard Skills

• You are experienced in troubleshooting and designing robust service landscapes.
• You are experienced in automating and improving existing solutions as well as implementing new ones.
• You understand advanced networking principles (e.g., network topologies) and are able to apply them to network designs.
• You can design secure solutions from scratch, apply appropriate countermeasures for specific security incidents, and provide guidance and best practices for system hardening.
• You are confident when giving presentations to larger internal audiences and conducting in-company user trainings in English.

Nice-to-Haves

• You have experience with web servers, LDAP, OpenID Connect, KVM Virtualization, Bash, Python, Terraform, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GitLab & GitOps, networking, and server hardware.
• You have a B2 level of German and English, preferably C1.
